Iran religious biopic production to start

Pre-production for religious series 'Prophet Moses’ (PBUH) is to kick off in Tehran.

Directed by Jamal Shourjeh, the biopic TV series on the Prophet Moses (PBUH) will be produced by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Earlier on, a February report noted that ifilm popular star Mostafa Zamani may take the titular role in the series.

Jamal Shourjeh, Iranian director and screenwriter told local media that a cinema town in Tehran will be used for the shooting of the movie.

The religious biopic series is based on Quranic descriptions and references from al-Mizan.

Tafsir al-Mizan is an exegesis on the holy Quran. It was written by Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabatabaee.

Late Iranian director Farajolaeh Salahshour was in the process of writing the screenplay of the TV series at the time of his death, famed Iranian director Mirbagheri was quoted by the media as saying.

The series will be produced in 72 episodes and religious advisors were asked to comment on the series script.

Moses (PBUH) is a prophet in Abrahamic religions and in several instances he has been mentioned in the holy Quran.
